TMT: Mice You’ll Love To See in Fridge

TMT150x150Tell Me Thursday for:
Mice in the Fridge

My mother-in-law made the delicious mice you saw in yesterday’s photo. They are as much fun to eat as they are to stage in the fridge to play a prank on someone!

Want to know how to make them? Sure ya do! ;-)

Ingredients for Brown Mice:
Hershey’s Kisses
Almond slices
chocolate chips (for melting)
maraschino cherries or any cherries with stems)

Ingredients for Striped White Mice:
Hershey’s White Chocolate Hugs
Almond slices
white chocolate chips (for melting)
maraschino cherries or any cherries with stems)

Melt the chocolate. Dip the cherries into the melted chocolate. Quickly attach a Hershey’s Kiss (or Hug) on to form the head and body of the mouse before the chocolate has a chance to harden. Continuing to work quickly, place two almond slices for the ears. Use decorator’s icing to decorate the eyes and nose… or skip the icing if you prefer blind mice!

Don’t forget to stage a little Mouse Party in your fridge for some fun! ;-)

Classic Mom

classic-car

Today Biscuit was sent home from school because he is now running a fever - the same one I keep thinking I’ve gotten rid of but returns around noon every day for the past week. :-(

As I lay in bed, he creeped in here from his own bed and crawled up on the bed next to me. Very sweetly, he said,

“I love you, Classic Mom”

Not sure if it was just the cuteness factor or because I’m deliriously goofy lately that was making my eyes water, so I asked him what a classic mom is…

Biscuit: It means you are a mom over 30 years old
Classic Mom: Uh what? How’d you come up with that?
Biscuit: I asked Daddy what classic car means the other day and he told me it’s a car older than 30 years old.
Classic Mom: So that makes me “classic”?
Biscuit: Yeah, I know you aren’t really 17, mom. That would make you only 10 when I was born.
Classic Mom: Ugh! (chunks pillow at Biscuit and rolls over)

Tshirt Bag Runway Model

My kids never fail to amaze me or scare the total crap out of me. It’s rarely somewhere in the middle… just one extreme to the next.

One night Biscuit came home with Donald from his Hobby Store while I was still working away at my desk. You see the folding door shut behind him right? Yep, that’s where personal ends and business begins unless you are male and under 50, then it’s just a door that’s an obstacle to bugging Mom. I didn’t even look up, just casually mentioned that the door was closed for a reason and I’d be out in a minute so we could eat dinner.

To that, Biscuit replied, “I closed the door behind me again Mom - because I needed to show you my new business idea!”

Because Biscuit is seriously determined to be “stinkin’ rich” before he’s ten, he had my undivided attention now. The last idea he had was to sell MY tea recipe on the internet, so this one had to be good, right? ;-)

It was a bit hard to keep a straight face, but I managed as he explained that “the stupid people that make plastic bags for daddy’s customers” labeled them incorrectly.

Apparently, the box says: Tshirt Bags

My little genius discovered if you cut the bottoms out, it could really be a Tshirt bag… how soon do you think he’ll be stinkin’ rich on that idea? My guess is he’d better get a modeling agent instead after I snapped the photos and noticed what a natural poser the child is. LOL

TMT: Couch Time With Kelly McCausey

TMT150x150Tell Me Thursday for:
Couch Time With Kelly McCausey

I must confess… I took great joy in poking fun at Kelly McCausey in this post and making you wonder at the same time. I even waited til the very last minutes of Thursday to tell the story. I guess that’s just my mischievous streak. ;-)

Ok, it all started during a conversation on Mom’s Morning Show about Wordless Wednesday photos. During this conversation, Kelly stated her pet peeves about photos and what types of photos she deemed “not worthy” because they weren’t interesting enough to be wordless.

The irony is that the first time Kelly participated, she posted a photo of her sofa. Not that it was an ugly sofa, in fact, it was quite lovely and cozy… but other than that, I wondered what the big deal was? So now I’m doomed to tease her for eternity about her sofa photo.

The other thing is, Kelly is probably one of my favorite online friends. It really sucks that we live so far apart. I imagine sitting on my couch someday and shooting the breeze with Ms. McCausey about life, business and the infamous couch photo.

I’ll say, “Hey, you opened your big mouth and besides, it’s so much fun making you eat your words” to which she’ll raise her eyebrow, look at me and say, “Stick a fork in it; it’s done!
