Tell Me Thursday: The Story Behind Shhh
This week’s Tell Me Thursday for:
Wordless Wednesday: Shhh photo
This photo is taken behind the “pump house” at my father’s house where I grew up. The pump house was the place where we stored outdoor doohickies, kept the dog food, and something pumped? LOL… wow, I never really thought about why my dad called it a pump house until now.
Anyway, as children, we spent ALOT of time outside. Because we lived out in the country, when my brother had to urinate, he would go behind the pump house to avoid going inside and getting the “wrath of mom”. This later became acceptable and is where all my cousins would later congregate outside when they came over as well!
The boy in the photo is my youngest, Wrangler. Now, we don’t visit Papa near as often as we should, so this is the first visit to the pump house. After swimming and putting his dry clothes on (hey maybe the pump for swimming pool is in there? LOL) Wrangler announced that he had to go potty. Since we were all outside, Papa said, “Just go behind the pump house, all the boys do”!
We really should have given Wrangler better instructions as a city boy because he obviously didn’t realize that you stand ON the sidewalk and shoot at the grass, not the other way around as he did! What can I say? It’s obvious that I’ve taught my children to use a toilet. LOL
But what’s with the socks and flip flops you ask? Wrangler has eczema. After swimming in chlorinated water, we rub Crisco shortening on his feet to moisture them. The socks go over his feet to protect things from sticking to his feet. AND… we were in the country, haven’t you heard of chiggers?! =)

I love how he ‘hit’ the sidewalk and not the grass. Maybe some boys just think it’s cool to hit cement because my son did that a couple years ago. He stood looking at his pee that made the cement wet and was totally fascinated…LOL!
